ôYeah, uh, welcome to the body of a woman built like a brick wall with an hourglass figureàAnd itÆs weirdàhearing her swear like that. Erràyou swearàyou know what I mean,ö Reimei said.
ôWatch it, you!ö Aldrith said, glaring at Morwen as he rubbed his arm.
Morwen blushed a bit, and then stepped over to Aldrith, giving him a quick hug in what Amaterasu took to be an apology, though it was strange seeing herself hug the Amarrian.
ôI sh-should fix your hair,ö Amaterasu said haltingly as Morwen apologized to Aldrith.
ôHm?ö
Amaterasu took a small bag of beads and string from Reimei as he held it out to her, and held it up for Morwen to see. MorwenÆs eyes widened as she looked at it, and Amaterasu thought she looked almost excited.
ôOoooh, yes,ö she said.
Amaterasu looked around, deciding that this wasnÆt the best place for it. They were about to leave, when Morwen turned around and started poking her own, comatose body. Amaterasu came to stand beside her as she prodded the body with a finger, giggling at its unresponsiveness. Amaterasu experimentally poked its cheek, and couldnÆt suppress a giggle when nothing happened. She turned around as Morwen, smirking a little wickedly, grabbed AldrithÆs hand and pressed it against her unconscious bodyÆs breast. Aldrith turned bright red, and she saw Reimei rolling his eyes on the edge of her vision. When Amaterasu had turned back, Aldrith was still blushing, his hands in his robes, looking a bit sour. Morwen was giggling, but Reimei was ushering them out of the lab.
That night, Morwen stayed with them so that no one would see Amaterasu in two places at once. Hikari had, evidently, gone off to her own ship, but Reimei had managed to keep himself more or less hidden where they were, so as to keep suspicion down. The next morning, Amaterasu spent several hours fixing MorwenÆs hair, and, once done, Reimei had Morwen try to practice walking and talking like her. Watching this idealized version of herself be coached and twisted into reality was painful, but Amaterasu tried to push that aside in recognition of its necessity.
Finally, they were ready. Reimei took them down to the bar, where they met Hikari in his body, as well as Marius, MathÆra, and Jianna. Aldrith was nowhere to be found though, and Amaterasu found herself wishing that there were more of them. Reimei had gone to talk to Ethan before they did their clone-swapping, and Amaterasu had hoped that might mean they would have more people. But they didnÆt and, knowing there was nothing to do about it, Amaterasu set her jaw and followed as everyone headed to the docking bay.
Morwen left them at a Rifter that was docked next to ReimeiÆs fully repaired Raven, which Hikari boarded herself. Jianna, Marius, and MathÆra went to their ships as Amaterasu and Reimei boarded the refitted Dragonfly, which was then loaded into ReimeiÆs Raven. Amaterasu squeezed past the marines, and Reimei helped her get into her pod. She did not power any of the DragonflyÆs systems up just yet, though.
ôAmaterasu and I are in the fighter. Status, people?ö ReimeiÆs voice crackled over the fleetwide comms channel, and Amaterasu could only assume that they had undocked.
ôReady,ö Jianna said, her voice cool and hard.
ôReady, Reimei,ö MathÆra answered.
ôOn my way,ö Morwen said.
ôReady,ö Hikari said in ReimeiÆs voice.
ôReady!ö Amaterasu said, trying to sound calm.
Marius was silent, but Amaterasu figured that meant he was ready, since he hadnÆt said otherwise.
ôAll right, Hikari, take us out. Let's make for the gate,ö Reimei said.
ôUndockingàin warp,ö Hikari said.
ôOkay, from here on out, youÆre Reimei. WeÆre just Strike One,ö Reimei told Hikari.
ôAnd me?ö Morwen asked.
ôYouÆre Amaterasu, genius. Remember?ö Reimei said, sounding almost amused.
ôæAmaterasu genius.Æ I think I can remember that,ö Morwen said smugly.
ôMake for the Allipes gate, then,ö Reimei said.
ôRoger,ö Marius said.
